About this website

Fire Permits and Fire Season Status Date Posted: Dec 11, 2018

Enjoy the summer break with friends, family and loved ones but remember to be safe with fire these Christmas Holidays

Fire can be a good friend but a vicious master if uncontrolled

There is currently a Open Fire Season south of the Wairau River and a Restricted Fire Season north of the Wairau River in place across the Marlborough District.  Gas BBQ’s, apparatus with enclosed fire boxes, pizza-type ovens and braziers with a ash catch pan are ok but for everything else you need a fire permit.

No fire permits will be issued over the official holiday break (21 December to 6 January 2019) but you can apply for a permit online after the 7th January at checkitsalright.com

Marlborough is one of the most fire-prone areas in the country through the summer months.  Don’t let your actions put yourself, your loved ones or others at risk of fire.

Fire in our landscape – Everyone’s responsibility

Merry Christmas and may 2019 be a good year for you all.
