International Firefighters’ Day (4 May 2019) is an important day for us to acknowledge and celebrate the great work our people do to ensure our local communities are safe. The day is about firefighters and the crucial job they do. It’s a great opportunity to showcase their work and the valuable service we provide to our Communities.
The Chief Executive and Chairman of the Board are keen to build on the success and positive media coverage received last year which acknowledged and commended the incredible work of firefighters across the country.
Rhys Jones, Chief Executive has welcomed the idea that Brigades/Stations consider arranging on the same day some sort of Brigade/Station Open Day (or couple of hours) to use this opportunity to engage with the community. He has approved $100 to any brigade who might want to fire up the BBQ and put on a few sausages during the day. We encourage all VRFF’s to engage with your local Community to celebrate all the wonderful work the volunteers do.
